In 1975 a group of rugby players, all of them resident in Donostia and members of the two teams of the city met in a third time to create what would be the first team of veterans of Euskadi. Named Asociación de Veteranos de Euskadi - OPLA, it was born in order to spread our noble sport from the wisdom that those who have practiced it during the best years of their life have. 

OPLA only has sport activity in the category of veterans, so it appeals all those that look for a place to meet and enjoy rugby, that’s why among our associates there are people coming from different clubs of the Basque Country as well as from the rest of the Spain. As time went, lots of former rugby players found a meeting place, where rugby and healthy comradeship reigned.

During these 32 years of uninterrupted activity we have been invited to play the constituent matches of some clubs of the surroundings as Eibar RT or Elorrio RT. Furthermore, for many years we have attended international events, like 5 and 6 Nations Championship, and play friendly matches against home teams. With the same attitude we went to Lisbon in 2004, to the centennial of the Portuguese Federation of Rugby, where we played against the Portuguese veterans in the incomparable mark of the Club Direito there. In 2000, on the silver jubilee of the Club, we toured Argentina where we face the Vacas Mercenarias in a memorable match In 2006 we flew to South Africa to impregnate us with their way of enjoying the oval sport and with their habits. Annually we play about 10 matches, some of which give us the opportunity of knowing friends of the rugby from all over the world.
