Rugby Club Lousã (Portugal)

1973 – José Redondo, who started playing rugby in Académica de Coimbra but was born and raised in Lousã, attracted a small group of around 30 young U14 students of the that village by showing them, for the first time, a rugby ball. That's how rugby started in Lousã.
1976 – the U16 team makes its debut.
1978 – the U18 team makes its first game.
1981 – the players from the U14 team achieve the senior level, and begin their participation in this category.
1984 – Rugby Club of Lousã is declared a Institution of Public Value.
1986 – Rugby Club of Lousã is promoted to National 1st division.
1987 – the actual stadium is inaugurated.
1995 – Tour to South-Africa world cup.
From them onwards the club as maintained all the teams in activity, from U8 to veterans.
The major sport milestones in recent years are the following:
2001-2002 – champion of National 2nd division.
2007 – vice champion of 1st division (to be noted that since 2005, the 1st division follows a league of honour with 8 clubs).
Meanwhile the club has won several 7's tournaments, like Arcos de Valdevez, Coimbra, La Coruña and Madrid. In the Madrid tournament, the 7's legend Waisali Serevi Lousã played for Lousã.
