Veteran’s team was created in December 1987 – the same year when Leningrad Rugby Club celebrated 25 years anniversary.

Team was founded by two former players of USSR national team Valery Kravets and Nikolay Rumyantsev. At present time Valery Kravets is the playing coach of the team. He works at school as a sport teacher.

The social composition of the team is very wide: there are engineers, professors, chefs of firms and businessmen are playing in the team.

“Golden Oldies” started to participate in the official tournaments from 1990. Since 1990 till present time team from St. Petersburg has participated regularly in Traditional Moscow Festival of Rugby Veterans. Since 1991 till present time “Golden Oldies” participated in the Open Russian Rugby Cup for veterans (age 35 + and older). St. Petersburg team has become the multiple winner of these tournaments.

St. Petersburg “Golden Oldies” has the experience of many international matches with teams from many different countries: England, France, Belgium, Spain, Portugal, Poland, Czech Republic, Sweden, Holland, Switzerland, Luxemburg, Israel, Moravia.
