SIGHTSEEING TOURS

Scenic Madeira – 4 hours

From the quayside, pass through the centre of Funchal before climbing steeply out of town along the winding road from which there are spectacular views over the harbour.

Pass through the village of Monte (1,677ft/550 m), then up through eucalyptus and mimosa tress to Terreiro da Luta (2,670ft/876m). Continuing a steady climb, mountain views begin to open out just before reaching POISO PASS (4,308ft/ 1413m).Turning to the left, views open out considerably on both sides until the road comes to an end at the summit of PICO DO ARIEIRO (5,937ft/1818) from where vantage point there are magnificent views on a clear day.

Return to POISO PASS and the road winds round and stops at SANTO DA SERRA, the village where our biggest Golf Course is located. The road then continues down stopping at view point of Camões Pequeno to enjoy a view over Machico valley, the beach where the discoverers of Madeira first arrived in 1419.

The tour then stops in Funchal in a Wine lodge, where participants are invited to sample blends of Madeira.

Then you return to the hotel.

Half day Taste of Madeira – 4 hours

Departing the hotel, the coach takes you along the sea avenue in Funchal to the departure point of the Cable car, which will take you on a trip with breathtaking views over Funchal, up to Monte (1, 677ft / 550m).

Monte is a village notable for its many fine properties and gardens, and it is perched on a hill above Funchal. After visiting its famous Church, you will be invited for a unique and typical toboggan ride down to Livramento. The ride down hill in the wicker sledges is an exciting one, providing you with a taste of the Madeira of the past decades, when this was the established form of transport.

After this, the trip goes to Madeira Botanical Gardens, very famous for its rich and endemic plants and flowers. From there you have also wonderful views over the city.

An embroidery factory will be our next stop and you will be taken through the departments and see the hand made Madeira embroidery being born.

Return to the Hotel.

Full day “Unforgettable West madeira” – 7,5 hours

The magnificent coastal and inland scenery of Madeira on this tour will leave you breathless.

From the Hotel, you will leave for Câmara de Lobos, a very picturesque fishing village, which Winston Churchill made internationally famous.

You will continue to Cabo Girão, second highest sea cliff in the world!

Then, you will visit Ribeira Brava, where you will make a refreshment stop at a local sea side Café before going to the north coast through Encumeda Pass for more incredible views of Madeira's north and south coastlines. Coming down the mountains, you will visit the village of São Vicente.

Then you can admire the waterfalls along the breathtaking road on north coast towards Porto Moniz.

After lunch, you will continue to Paul da Serra plateau with an afternoon break at Ponta do Sol, before returning to Funchal.

Price: € 42.00  (including 3 course meal lunch w/ drinks)

Full day “Best of the East Madeira” – 7 Hours

This is the opportunity to see several “faces of Madeira Island. Our first stop will be quaint CAMACHA, centre of wicker works in Madeira. We will stop at the factory and see the artisans handicrafts, which range from small baskets to life size animals.

We will proceed to climb “above clouds” to PICO DO ARIEIRO, second highest peak (5.430 feet above sea level) with breathtaking views.

Then we will descend to RIBEIRO FRIO to visit the trout hatchery, located in a valley amongst lush greenery continue descending to the interior of the island, towards Faial.

Then you willl be driven to SANTANA for a visit where you can still find the old tached houses. Either in Santana or Faial we invite you for a typically Portuguese lunch while enjoying the beautiful surroundings. After lunch the tour continues via Porto da Cruz to PORTELA PASS, from where you have an amazing view of the north part of the island.

We will continue to Machico, a fishing village located on the south east of Madeira before returning to Funchal.

Rabaçal/ Risco/ 25 Fontes

 

Hicking is one of the most well known highlights of Madeira island, reason why if you like nature this is really a chance to know the island and it sheart.

 

From the Hotel you will be driven up with hill to the highest plateau “Paul da Serra”. From Paul da Serra, together with a qualified Hicking mountain guide you will start descend the Valley of Rabaçal, one of the greatest nature exultations We will arrive at the Rabaçal guesthouse from where we will continue walking to the Risco waterfall. We then descend to the Levada of 25 Fontes and walk along the maintenance path. After a while we reach a small lake at the bottom of a cliff face, 25 natural springs cascade into the small lake. Walking back to our vehicles we go through a tunnel which takes the water to the south of the island.

 

Depart Hotel by 09:30

Return to Hotel by 16:00

 

Dif. Grade 3 – Moderate walk.

Walking time: 4 Hours.

Distance: 11 km.

Price per walk : adult € 36.00    child 4/11 yrs : € 18.00

Final notes concerning the program

            • All tours offered within the program will be guided by qualified English speaking guides.

            If in long term advance requested, guides can be provided in French, German, Spanish and Italian languages and occasionally Russian as well.

            For all Excursions booked until 31st December have a 5% reduction.
